How did we meet?

My other half and I are getting married in 3 weeks. *I know, not long to go now!*

The past few months have been filled with supplier meetings, forms and lots and lots of money. One of these forms included one from our videographer. One of the sections asked us to share a little about us. The only way I know of how to share our story is to…write a story. So that is what I did. Below is the story we sent to our videographer.

Once upon time lived two souls, one named Young and one named Carol. They both travelled the world from infancy to adulthood. For over half of their lives they lived on opposite poles of the planet, until one day in the autumn of 2013, they crossed paths.

She thought he was a nerd, and he didn’t know what to make of her.

After all, they were stunting in the gym, at university, as part of a larger group and she had smudged mascara, black wrist bands and WILD printed in the back of her t-shirt.

Young and Carol continued on with their separate lives as normal and saw each other every week at training, but never really spoke. It wasn’t until a month later that they were put into the same stunting group that they actually started speaking.

Fast forward to the spring of 2016, Young and Carol travelled to Tokyo, Japan on their first trip abroad together. It was Carol’s first time in Japan, a place she had been dreaming to visit. Young had already been to Japan a couple times and lived there short term so he was already a pro.

The pair took a day trip out to Hakone, a mountainous region centered on Lake Ashi.  The previous night was a lunar eclipse; it was incredibly cold and got foggier the closer they got to Lake Ashi. As they hiked to the shrine at the top of the peak, it started snowing.

It was next to the red gate located at the edge of the lake that Young proposed. But before he could, he had to chase Carol down as she saw a lone tree in the middle of the path and decided to go run around it.

Here is the red gate from the boat!

We also filmed the day we spent in Hakone (see the below video). I only got the courage this week to change the video from private-unlisted to public!
